Field Notes
The beautiful, haunting statues created by Antony Gormley are much loved and this one, in the shadown of the Turner Contemporary, gazes out to sea day in day out. I liked the relationship between the statue and the navigation mast and the space they occupy in terms of sea and sky. Turner was exceptional at striking a balance between objects, their relationship to each other and with sea and sky and I have tried to draw on this approach here.
