Field Notes
The almost limitless potential for viewpoints in the Lake District is part of the appeal to me. Here, on Side Pike looking over towards Great Langdale, I found many compositions before settling on this one that used the elegeant dry stone wall to lead the eye through the foregrounnd and onto the distant peak beyond. Waiting for the light is the default posiiton for a landscpe photographer and so some time passed before the nice, warm light emerged from behind some clouds and bathed the scene in pleasant, contrasty side light, which was my cue to start creating my exposures.
