Field Notes
The plan was to set up at the western end of Lake Buttermere and await, what I hoped, would be a progression of enjoyable light over the course of the morning. Sadly, Sarah, Lizzie and I experienced only heavy, rolling clouds high above leav ing the landscape dull and lifeless. But out of nowehere a break in the clouds sent these huge shafts of light splashing down onto the lake and I just fired the cameras shutter, instinctively, and hoped I'd recorded all the highlights and shadows. Over in seconds, a quick look at the histigram revealed it was all there, and back to big, light sucking clouds atfer a brief but glorious interlude.
