Field Notes
Heavy cloud hung close to the mountains and the rai teemed down, but I found the stillness and calm irresistable. It was a strange moment in a wild place. The low light allowed for a fairly long shutter speed of 3 seconds, which added some extra smoothness to the water and gave a contrast to the texture of the rock and trees. Composed to fit the elements into a cohesive whole, the idea was to capture the feeling of being there from the short trees in the foreground to the distant peaks up the loch. Ony a 1 stop neutral density filter was needed to hold the exposure back in the top, brighter, part of the composition.
