Field Notes
The view of Rum from Eigg is beautiful. The distinctive shape of the island with it’s pointy peaks makes for an excellent backdrop. The challenge is to find interesting foreground and middle ground from the shores of Eigg to dove tail with the background. Wind, tide and weather are all the usual key components of the equation but on this occasion a group of cows that habitually wander along the beach made for a more unusual option. Timing is more by luck than design and makes for the added thrill of something coming together out of the unexpected.
